Courtney Spender: "My Journey to Excellence in Medical Practice Management"

I started off in healthcare as a receptionist, I worked my way up and became the Billing Manager and in those seven years I really developed a passion for everything healthcare, from patient care, to back end operations, to informatics.

In those seven years I gave birth to two amazing boys. My second son was born with health complications that will and has affected his entire life. I took everything I knew from working in healthcare and applied it to what I had to have done for him. I have done prior authorizations, insurance benefit verification, appeals (so many professionally and personally) internal, external, I even took one to trial for my son for a surgery this year (2020) in Washington D.C and we won!

I have a clinical background as I started my Nursing degree only to find out before clinical assignment I was pregnant with our daughter! I continued with schooling and finished my degree in Health Information Management.

Throughout these years, in working and in raising my family, I learned how important it is for practitioners to spend time with patients in order to present clear information and encouragement. Too often, I saw doctors rushing in and out of rooms, overworked and unable to provide proper care all of the time.

I went on to work for Duke University Health, until we moved back to NJ in 2019 and I had to be home with my family due to COVID-19. I missed working tremendously so my husband and I decided it was time to put my talents into our own business. CRS Practice Management was developed. We are thriving in the ever increasing movement towards virtual workplace solutions, our clients are thriving, and we look forward to thriving with you.
